Discover the Channel Islands, California

California is famously known for its stunning coastline, sun-kissed beaches, and breathtaking landscapes. Among these lie the Channel Islands, a gem enchanting locals and adventurous travelers alike. With their captivating beauty and rich biodiversity, the islands offer a unique opportunity to explore a world both above and below the shimmering Pacific waters. During a liveaboard trip with Channel Islands Expeditions, we visited Anacapa, San Miguel, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa.

A must-visit spot on Anacapa is Inspiration Point, from where you can witness breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean stretching out into the horizon (photos below). Gaze in awe at the rugged sea cliffs that plunge dramatically into the sparkling azure waters below, forming sea caves that are perfect for exploration. As you hike along the rugged trails, framed by vibrant wildflowers, you'll be welcomed by the chorus of seabirds soaring overhead. Keep an eye out for the island's most iconic inhabitants, the Western Gulls and the endangered California Brown Pelicans.

Santa Rosa offered us an (almost) secluded and pristine paradise. With its diverse ecosystems and stunning natural landscapes, it's well worth the journey. We hiked along Becher’s Bay offering gorgeous water views all the way to the forest of rare Torrey Pines.
